Kirkdale nursery, Daviot, Inverurie

Had an interesting visit here today, some of the plants I wanted were sold out but after chatting with the owner I managed to get other edible perennials I didn't know about. It's more of a plant nursery as opposed to a garden centre, so no kids activities or café. He has a bucket of umbrellas by the shop door for customers to use, isn't that thoughtful :)
He tries to stock plants which are suitable for this colder climate,
Quote from website;
Kirkdale Nursery was opened in 1989 and is still actively run by the original founder, ensuring that the core focus on interesting and unusual hardy plants remains.

I'm glad it's still going. I visited a couple of times last year and the lady serving said there was a possibility they would be closing down this year. I'm glad they haven't, proper family run
garden centres are far more important than the big chain ones that sell ornaments and stuff and plants are almost an afterthought

That's how I feel, the cafe's and kid's play areas are a nice idea but they put me right off. I also saw the notice on the website that it was being sold but I'm guessing it didn't come to pass.

They tried for a long long time to sell Williamsons at Forglen just outside Turriff but they were selling house, grazing land plant nursery and cafe/playbarn and wanted a tremendous amount of money so they sold off everything and closed down. Very sad because they were good for plants although the stop that wass once associated with them, White Lodge, has quite a good selection nowadays

Is that the place on the road to Cuminestown?
